Remote access
Open Farero from another device while your computer continues to run the agents.
Updated 2026-09-15
The host computer runs Farero, your repositories, and the provider processes. A connected phone or browser lets you read progress and give instructions to that host.
Before connecting
Private remote access uses Tailscale. Connect the host and viewing device to the same tailnet and use Farero's private HTTPS connection. The host must remain online and available. The computer connection menu provides the phone QR code.
Treat the connection link and QR code as credentials. Do not include them in screenshots or support reports.
Enable private HTTPS during installation
On the host, sign in to Tailscale before installing Farero. Choose an unused HTTPS port; these examples use 9443. On macOS or supported Linux:
curl -fsSL https://updates.farero.ai/install.sh | sh -s -- --https-port 9443On Windows, set the port for the installer in PowerShell:
$env:FARERO_HTTPS_PORT = '9443'
irm https://updates.farero.ai/install.ps1 | iex
Remove-Item Env:FARERO_HTTPS_PORTThis configures private Tailscale access, not a public website. Open the computer connection menu and scan its QR code from your other device. Success means that device shows the same workspace and conversation as the host.
For an existing installation, keep its current data directory and other port settings. Changing the service's HTTPS configuration is a host installation change; do not start a second Farero host against the same data directory.
Worked example: review from your phone
Illustrative.
01 · Goal
Inspect a completed task away from your desk.
02 · Setup
A reachable host, a connected phone, and an existing workspace with a completed task. Open the authenticated connection from Farero's QR code.
03 · Prompt
Summarize the current workspace changes and the checks already completed.
Do not edit files, run new commands, or delegate. Identify what still needs review.04 · Evidence produced
The saved task history and an account of the existing changes and checks.
05 · User review
Open the relevant diff and confirm whether you have enough context to approve the next action.
Keep-awake behavior differs by platform. Phone access does not keep an unavailable host running. See Platform support and Troubleshooting.
