Step 3 of 4

Add a repository

Choose a repository on the host and create a workspace for one task.

Updated 2026-09-15

Before you begin

Have a local Git checkout on the computer running Farero. If your repository is hosted elsewhere, clone it onto that computer first using your usual Git tools and credentials.

Choose the repository

Open New workspace and add or select the repository. Enter its local checkout path. On the host, a folder picker is available when the platform supports it. From a phone, the path still refers to the host computer.

Registering the repository does not send a model prompt. Creating a workspace with a prompt starts a task after preparation, so use the bounded prompt from the next guide if you are ready to begin.

Understand the workspace

A repository is the project. A workspace is a checkout and branch for a particular piece of work. New task workspaces normally start from the repository's target branch. Other sources include an existing branch or a supported issue or pull request.

For your first task, use the normal target branch. Let workspace preparation finish. You should see the new workspace and its conversation, with any setup progress shown there. If setup cannot finish, Troubleshooting explains what information helps diagnose it.

Chats inside this workspace share its files. Opening another chat does not create another isolated checkout.

Next: Send and review your first task.
